EECCA Submission - QREEP Briefing on Draft Report 12 Oct 2016
This Submission emphasises the need to the Queensland Government to consider implementing a market-based energy efficiency scheme. This recommendation aligns with the QREEP Briefing on Draft Report Summary of Key Findings and Recommendations, Policy Mechanisms, second point: “The Panel supports the Queensland Government working at a national level to develop and implement nationally integrated climate change and energy policies to maximise efficiencies in emissions reduction and uptake of renewable energy.”
While this point relates specifically to renewable energy, there is growing acceptance that multiple policy initiatives are required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and need to be considered in tandem - and energy efficiency is lowest cost way of achieving this objective.
