Energy Mad is a product, developer, manufacturer and retail distributor in New Zealand and Australia. Energy Mad develops and manufactures its own ultra high performance LED Ecobulbs that replace incandescent and halogen light bulbs in commercial and residential settings.
In Australia, Energy Mad Ecobulbs have been supplied to over one million homes through market-based energy efficiency schemes as well as through electricity utility and government projects in Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.
In New Zealand, Energy Mad has implemented numerous Ecobulb projects with governments, electricity utilities, supermarkets and Shell New Zealand. These initiatives have resulted in 57 per cent of New Zealand homes purchasing five or more Ecobulbs each.
Across the United States of America, Energy Mad has supplied energy saving bulbs to all 8,000 Walgreens stores, the world’s second largest retailer. As well, major utility projects facilitating Ecobulb installation have been undertaken including a New-York-wide project and in Germany.
Energy Mad’s goal is to “save enough electricity to power New Zealand for one year”. In November 2022 the company was 64 per cent of the way toward achieving this goal with 25 million Ecobulbs installed. Worldwide, around 3.4 million homes had installed Energy Mad Ecobulbs.
Energy Mad was recognised as New Zealand’s fastest growing company when it received the Deloitte Fast 50 Award in 2007. The company has won New Zealand awards for business, energy efficiency, sustainability and clean technology, and innovation. Energy Mad was listed on the Main Board of the New Zealand Stock Exchange in October 2011.
The ESIA representative is Chris Mardon, Founder, Energy Mad. Chris served on the ESIA Board in a general position from late 2017 to 2020.
